Ocean County Senior Shopping Program
This program just opened Monday, April 20, 2020 for seniors who are 60 years old and older who are at risk and need assistance in food shopping during the pandemic.
How It Works: Seniors are to call any of the numbers of Senior Services with their grocery list and request assistance. Freeholder Director Joseph Vicari states that it is the staff at municipal senior centers who will take grocery list requests via telephone and forward requests to the Jersey Cares portal. Jersey Cares will choose volunteers and give them the assignment.
No money is exchanged. No person comes close to anyone. The volunteers prepay for the groceries and are reimbursed through their direct deposit. The groceries are dropped off by the front door of the house.
